The 2017 South Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) is being held in Kunming, Yunnan province from June 12 to 18, and has attracted more than 4,000 enterprises, from biology and technology firms to electric bike manufacturers.
Some Chinese giants have signed cooperation agreements with Yunnan, bringing in new technologies and concepts for development.
Huawei Technologies Co
The company has signed up to promote the development of computing and big data and the construction of smart cities in the province.
At the 2017 SSACEIF, Zhaotong in Yunnan signed a deal with Huawei to build "smart Zhaotong" in the near future, covering transportation, education, healthcare and poverty-relief.
Yunnan's Yuxi city also joined in hands with the company to help build its computer industry.
BGI
Shenzhen-based BGI is the world largest genomic organization and has agreed to cooperate with Longyang district in the city of Baoshan, Yunnan province to further improve the city's agriculture. Also, the world-renowned company will help reduce the percentage of genetic diseases and congenital malformation of newborns.
AVIC China Aviation Planning and Design Institute (Group)
It was the first time for AVIC to take part in the SSACEIF, agreeing on a cooperation deal with Yunnan on civil aviation and openness for air traffic, promoting cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road.
HKC Group
HCK Group is considered one of the top three display manufacturers in China. At the 2017 SSACEIF, the company agreed to invest 6 billion yuan ($882.67 million) in Yunnan's Mengzi city, to develop an industrial park for the production of integrated circuits, electronic components, cell phones and small home appliances.
